Job Overview Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Weekend CoveragePosition Summary Chambers Memorial Hospital is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide weekend inpatient hospitalist coverage. The Hospitalist NP/PA will provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients, working collaboratively with the hospitalist physician, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team. The position is intended to provide consistent, high-quality inpatient coverage while maintaining continuity of care and supporting safe and efficient patient management.
Typical Average Daily Census:
Approximately 9 patients
Weekend Daily Rate:
$500 per day
Schedule:
Saturday and Sunday weekend coverage
Location:
Chambers Memorial Hospital, Danville, Arkansas Primary Responsibilities
Provide inpatient medical care to patients admitted to Chambers Memorial Hospital.
Perform initial patient assessments and evaluations as assigned.
Complete admission histories and physical examinations.
Conduct daily rounds and reassess hospitalized patients.
Develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans based on the patient's clinical condition.
Order and interpret appropriate laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other tests.
Manage medications and treatments within the provider's scope of practice and clinical privileges.
Address acute changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate treatment or escalation of care.
Coordinate care with nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation, case management, and other hospital departments.
Provide medical evaluation, assessment, and ongoing management of patients participating in the hospital's detoxification program.
Provide appropriate patient and family education.
Complete medication reconciliation and discharge planning.
Prepare discharge summaries and other required medical documentation.
Communicate necessary follow-up recommendations to the patient's primary care provider and/or specialists.
Recognize patients requiring a higher level of care and coordinate transfer when medically appropriate.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Perform other duties consistent with the position, scope of practice, and clinical privileges.
Qualifications Required:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Current, unrestricted Arkansas license appropriate to the position.
Current national certification appropriate to the provider's profession.
Current BLS certification.
Eligible for medical staff membership and hospital clinical privileges.
Demonstrated clinical competency appropriate for inpatient care.
Preferred:
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification for NP candidates.
Previous hospitalist or inpatient experience.
Experience in internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, or acute care.
Experience working in a rural or community hospital setting.
