ABOUT THE POSITION

Brain, Spine and Pain Institute is seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and highly dependable Nurse Practitioner to join our growing neurology and brain injury practice. The position will initially require regular in-person clinical coverage at our Bedford, Massachusetts office. The successful candidate will also provide telemedicine follow-up care to established patients in Maryland and, as additional licenses are obtained, potentially patients in Virginia and other states where the practice operates. This is not a fully remote position. Candidates must be able to work in person at the Bedford office during the initial phase of the position and thereafter as needed. The Nurse Practitioner will work closely with a board-certified neurologist and an experienced multidisciplinary clinical team. The practice focuses on concussion and traumatic brain injury, post-concussion syndrome, headaches and migraines, dizziness and balance disorders, cognitive symptoms, neuropathy, radiculopathy, spinal pain, and related neurologic conditions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct comprehensive and interval neurologic evaluations. Provide in-person care at the Bedford office. Conduct telemedicine follow-up visits for appropriately licensed jurisdictions. Evaluate and manage patients with concussion, traumatic brain injury, post-concussion symptoms, headaches, migraines, dizziness, cognitive complaints, neuropathy, radiculopathy, and spine-related pain. Obtain detailed histories and perform focused neurologic examinations. Review laboratory testing, neuroimaging, electrodiagnostic studies, and computerized neurologic assessments. Develop treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising neurologist. Prescribe and manage medications within the clinician's scope of practice. Monitor treatment response, adverse effects, functional progress, and adherence. Coordinate care with physical therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, speech-language pathology, behavioral health, sleep medicine, pain management, and other specialists. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up recommendations. Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely clinical documentation. Complete reports, orders, referrals, medication authorizations, and other follow-up tasks promptly. Communicate professionally with patients, families, staff members, referral sources, and other treating providers. Participate in clinical workflow development, quality improvement, and expansion of the practice's regional telemedicine services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Current Nurse Practitioner license in Massachusetts. National board certification as an FNP, AGNP, or another appropriate advanced-practice specialty. Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one. Strong clinical judgment and ability to recognize conditions requiring physician consultation or escalation. Excellent history-taking, clinical documentation, and patient-communication skills. Comfort using electronic health records and telemedicine platforms. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the supervising neurologist and clinical team. Reliable availability for in-person work at the Bedford office. Ability to complete documentation and assigned clinical tasks accurately and on time.

Preferred:

Prior experience in neurology, concussion or traumatic brain injury, pain management, rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, primary care, urgent care, or a related specialty. Experience evaluating patients following motor vehicle collisions or other traumatic injuries. Familiarity with headaches, migraines, dizziness, balance disorders, cognitive complaints, neuropathy, radiculopathy, and spine-related pain. Experience reviewing MRI, EEG, EMG/nerve-conduction studies, cognitive testing, balance testing, or oculomotor assessments. Previous telemedicine experience. Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license or willingness to obtain Virginia and other state licenses as the practice expands. Interest in developing expertise in neurology, brain injury medicine, neurorehabilitation, and neuromodulation.

SCHEDULE

The schedule may be structured as either full-time or part-time, depending on the selected candidate's availability and the needs of the practice. The position will initially emphasize in-person patient care at the Bedford office. Telemedicine sessions may be incorporated into the schedule and may increase as the clinician becomes established within the practice and obtains any additional required state licenses. No hospital rounds, overnight call, or emergency-department coverage is anticipated.
