A primary care provider (PCP) serves as the first point of contact for patients, offering comprehensive, continuous, and preventive care. The main duties of a Provider at Primary Care of Kansas- Independence will include: 1. Preventive Care & Health Promotion Conduct routine check-ups and physical exams Provide vaccinations and screenings (e.g., blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes) Counsel on healthy lifestyle choices (diet, exercise, smoking cessation) Offer age-appropriate health maintenance 2. Diagnosis & Treatment of Common Conditions Assess and manage acute illnesses (e.g., infections, minor injuries) Diagnose and treat chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, asthma) Provide symptom management for common medical complaints 3. Management of Chronic Diseases Monitor and adjust treatment plans for chronic conditions Educate patients on disease management and medication adherence Coordinate with specialists when necessary 4. Coordination of Care & Referrals Refer patients to specialists for advanced care (e.g., cardiologists, endocrinologists) Collaborate with other healthcare providers for integrated patient care Assist in managing complex cases requiring multidisciplinary care 5. Mental Health Support Identify and treat mild-to-moderate mental health conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression) Provide counseling and lifestyle interventions Refer patients to mental health department at Mental Health of Kansas. 6. Minor Procedures & Treatments Perform in-office procedures (e.g., suturing wounds, skin biopsies, joint injections) Administer injections and medications Manage simple fractures and musculoskeletal injuries 7. Patient Education & Advocacy Educate patients on disease prevention and self-care Explain treatment options and shared decision-making Advocate for patient-centered, cost-effective care
