Direct Support Worker/Certified Nursing Assistant

Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Worker to provide essential assistance and support to individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities, as well as elderly and senior participants. In this role, you will work both in our Day Center and within the community, facilitating activities and services that promote independence, well-being, and quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and seniors, and will be committed to creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, and mobility support. Facilitate in-center activities and community outings designed to promote social interaction and skill development. Provide transportation support by safely operating standard passenger vehicles for client outings. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and concerns, ensuring respectful and personalized care. Support elderly and senior clients through companionship, assistance with activities of daily living, and engagement in senior-focused programs. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols such as first aid and CPR procedures when necessary. Collaborate with team members to develop individualized support plans tailored to each client's needs. Document client progress and report any concerns or changes in condition to supervisors, director or administrator. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred. Experience supporting clients with cognitive disabilities is highly valued. Background in senior care or working with elderly populations is advantageous. Certification in first aid and CPR is required or willingness to obtain upon hire. Strong communication skills are essential for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely for client transportation purposes.
