JOB DESCRIPTION/PRIMARY DUTIES OF POSITION
Provides residents' personal hygiene by providing oral care, giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with toileting and perincal care; helping with showers and baths.
Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding residents as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning residents; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Maintains resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; collecting urine; recording intake and output information.
Provides resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting residents; answering residents' call lights and requests; reporting observations of the resident to charge nurse.
Provides dignity, respect and quality of care for residents.
Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
Protects organization's value by keeping resident information confidential.
Serves and protects the long-term care facility by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and OSHA standards.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining licensure.
Enhances nursing department and long-term care facility reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Current Nursing Assistant Certification in the State of New Mexico required.
Basic Cardiac Life Support is required.
At least one year as a clinical nurse in a long term care environment is preferred.
Excellent Customer Service skills required.
Communication and organizational skills required.
