PART-TIME CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
(CNA)

Director of Nursing / Charge Nurse Position Summary The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, person-centered care to residents in accordance with their individual care plans, facility policies, and applicable federal and state regulations. The CNA assists residents with activities of daily living, promotes resident dignity and independence, observes and reports changes in residents' conditions, and contributes to maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. Because this is a small 30-bed nursing home, the CNA is an important member of the care team and is expected to work collaboratively with nurses, other CNAs, residents, families, and other facility staff. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Care Provide direct nursing assistance and personal care to residents under the direction of licensed nursing staff. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Bathing and showering Grooming and oral care Dressing and undressing Toileting and incontinence care Eating and drinking Mobility and positioning Assist residents with transfers and ambulation using appropriate equipment and safety techniques. Reposition residents as directed to promote comfort and prevent skin breakdown. Make beds and maintain residents' rooms in a clean, orderly, and comfortable condition. Answer call lights promptly and respond appropriately to resident requests. Provide care in a manner that promotes resident privacy, dignity, independence, and choice. Observation and Reporting Observe residents for changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition. Promptly report changes or concerns to the charge nurse or other licensed nursing staff. Accurately document care provided and required observations in accordance with facility procedures. Report incidents, injuries, falls, skin concerns, and other unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate nurse. Safety and Infection Prevention Follow infection prevention and control practices, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow fall-prevention and other resident-safety measures. Use proper body mechanics and safe transfer techniques. Maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff. Follow facility emergency procedures and safety policies. Communication and Teamwork Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, nurses, and other staff. Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary care team as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA and facility policy. Demonstrate a positive, respectful, and caring attitude toward residents and coworkers. Assist other staff members when appropriate to ensure resident needs are met. Qualifications Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in West Virginia. Completion of an approved nursing assistant training program. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, transferring, repositioning, standing, walking, bending, and assisting residents with mobility. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a healthcare team. Previous long-term care or nursing home experience preferred. Commitment to resident rights, dignity, privacy, and quality of care. Schedule Requirements This is a part-time position scheduled for 16 hours per week, the shift is 3 pm to 11 pm . The position follows a rotating 2-days-on / 4-days-off schedule , meaning the CNA will work two consecutive scheduled days followed by four consecutive days off. Because the schedule rotates, scheduled workdays may vary from week to week and may include weekends and holidays as needed. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled and provide adequate notice when unable to work. Physical Requirements The CNA must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position, which may include: Standing and walking for extended periods. Bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and twisting. Assisting residents with transfers, ambulation, and repositioning. Lifting and moving equipment and supplies. Providing hands-on personal care. Responding quickly to resident needs and emergencies. Reasonable accommodations may be considered in accordance with applicable law. Resident Rights and Confidentiality The CNA is expected to protect and promote each resident's rights, privacy, dignity, independence, and choice. All resident information must be kept confidential and handled in accordance with HIPAA, facility policies, and applicable laws and regulations. Performance Expectations The CNA is expected to: Provide safe, compassionate, and timely resident care. Complete assigned duties accurately and efficiently. Follow the resident's plan of care and nursing direction. Communicate changes in resident condition promptly. Maintain professional conduct at all times. Follow all facility policies and procedures. Maintain required CNA certification and training. Demonstrate reliability and teamwork.
