GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Faculty of General Nursing position will teach classes live, hybrid, or online via the institution's learning management system. Responsibilities will include supporting NPC's values: 1) quality learning environment, 2) diversity and accessibility, 3) integrity and accountability, and collaboration toward success; as well as upholding the mission of providing, supporting, and promoting life-long learning. The successful candidate will teach courses in Nursing for which they are qualified and assigned; teach in a variety of environments and modes (team-taught offerings, day offerings, evening offerings, online offerings, hybrid offerings, etc.) per course outlines and instructional procedures; integrate technology with instruction; assess students in light of the institution goals, program goals, and course objectives; maintain appropriate scheduled office hours; provide service to the department, division, college, and community as assigned by the supervising department chair, dean, or elected by peers; develop good working relationships with discipline-related professionals in the College's Service area; collaborate and participate in AZTransfer to foster transferability opportunities; serve as a community resource in the area of expertise; be active in one's field of expertise; travel within the College district. Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Standard Faculty Expectations:
Positively support and promote the college's governing board, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and communities. Teach at varied times and locations and using a variety of teaching delivery systems (including video, enhanced audio, and online) within the qualified discipline. Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of curriculum, including assessment of student learning, and program review. Maintain accurate student records. Maintain regular office hours and meet all instructional deadlines. Serve on program Advisory Councils, Committees, and Articulation Task Forces. Provide input for budgets, book orders, and semester schedules. Engage in creative and scholarly activities within the discipline. Maintain industry-recognized certification in assigned discipline, as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Discipline-Specific Faculty Expectations:
Teaching responsibilities may include but are not restricted to undergraduate courses in Nursing that support a Quality and Safety Education for Nurses model. Other courses may be developed to fit the successful candidate's expertise and program demand as approved by the Dean of Nursing. In addition, the successful candidate will Provide instruction in the Nursing Assistant program following the requirements of Article 8 of the Arizona Nurse Practice Act. Deliver instruction that is learner-centered and promotes participation in the learning process, emphasizing pathophysiology and critical thinking concepts. Demonstrate knowledge and clinical competence in acute care hospital and community-based healthcare settings. Work collaboratively with students and facility staff to optimize clinical experiences. Work with advisory committees to identify and meet the needs of the community about nursing subject matter and courses. Administer and monitor exams; evaluate student progress; collect and maintain records of student classroom and clinical experiences. Act as a liaison with healthcare organizations/providers. Follow the requirements within the Arizona State Board of Nursing Advisory Opinion regarding the Role of the Clinical Instructor in Pre-Licensure RN and LPN Programs. Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of standards for the admission, progression, and graduation of students (AZBN). Communicate with the Dean of Nursing and colleagues regarding student issues and progression in the program. Initiate and maintain active participation in professional development opportunities that encompass the discipline of Nursing and teaching effectiveness. Together with the Nursing Assistant Training Coordinator, review policies and procedures that ensure student and patient safety. Under the leadership of the Dean of Nursing, provide direction and coordination of the Nursing Program, following the requirements of the Arizona State Bord of Nursing. Supervise and evaluate the program, ensure adjunct instructors meet regulatory qualifications, and ensure written policies meet AZBN and accreditation Probationary faculty are required to complete the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) training within the probationary period and are strongly encouraged to complete it in their first year. ISW is a required part of a new faculty member's probationary training and probationary faculty are not eligible to receive additional compensation for completing the training. Ability to lift 35 pounds. Basic Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university. Current unencumbered Arizona RN license. Three years of experience as a RN. DPS Level I fingerprint clearance and valid AZ driver's license. Current CPR certification and TB screening. Supplemental Information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited college/university. Demonstrated proficiency in college-level teaching for the equivalency of two (2) years full-time. Approval to teach nursing assistants as granted by AzBN.
