Job Description

Assistant Professor of Nursing About Us Founded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. In this setting, students receive individualized attention that only a small college with dedicated faculty and staff can provide. Job Summary Primary responsibilities for the Assistant Professor of Nursing include teaching undergraduate nursing courses, advising and mentoring students, supporting student success initiatives, participating in institutional and community service activities, and engaging in ongoing professional development. Responsibilities Teaching (70%) Teaches undergraduate courses appropriate to his/her appointment and credentialing. Plans and delivers classroom, laboratory, clinical, hybrid, and online instruction in an effective learning environment which helps students achieve the educational outcomes set by the college, the standards of the discipline, and external accrediting agencies. Develops and evaluates examinations, assignments, and clinical assessments appropriate to the educational outcomes of the program and the college. Maintains course records, syllabi, and assessment documentation. Maintains the required number of office hours each week. Supports accreditation standards and program assessment. Teaches classes at night and off-campus as needed. Student Success (7.5-15%) Serves as an effective advisor/mentor to students on academic curricula, course selection, and graduation requirements. Supports student recruitment, orientation, and organizational activities by attending and engaging in orientation sessions, registration events, and other student functions as required. Assists students with career planning and licensure readiness. Service (7.5-15%) Serves on faculty committees at the department, college, or system level as elected by the faculty or appointed by the administration. Participates in faculty governance and institutional activities. Provides nursing expertise to community and healthcare partners. Attends formal academic exercises of the College, including the President¿s Convocation and Graduation, and on such occasions wears appropriate academic attire. Professional Development (7.5-15%) Serves the college and community by providing expertise in his/her field to colleagues, schools, businesses, and other organizations. Maintains nursing licensure and professional competence. Participates in continuing education and professional organizations. Engages in scholarly and professional activities. Remains current with accreditation and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications Master of Science in Nursing. Active Registered Nurse License. Applicants who hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), demonstrate documented progress toward completion of a graduate degree in nursing, and possess a minimum of two years of experience in the area of responsibility will be considered for the position. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate in an appropriate discipline to support a nursing curriculum. Previous nursing education experience. Experience with online instruction and accreditation processes. Two years of recent clinical nursing experience in the areas of Medical/Surgical. Apply Before Date Review of applications will begin immediately. Anticipated start date is January 1, 2027. Other Information Annual Salary:
$65,000 This is a full-time, 10-month, faculty position and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
