Job Description:

The Department of Nursing at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a Tenure Track Full-Time faculty member in Nursing. This position has an expected start date of the Spring 2027 semester.

Primary responsibilities include:

Teach classes in Nursing, in areas such as medical-surgical, psychiatric, maternal child health, and long-term care topics. Teach with an emphasis on high impact teaching practices, which will include both classroom and clinical instruction in an integrated nursing curriculum. Use online platforms and other technology for delivering content, exams, and simulated tab experiences. Develop and revise course curricula to reflect current industry trends and academic standards. Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to students. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and student club activities, and engage in campus community events. Participate in assessment activities and professional development. Contribute to program development through curriculum improvement, recruitment efforts, and community outreach. Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing or Nursing Education Official transcripts required upon hire. License to practice as a Registered Professional Nursing in New York State Current medical-surgical experience, and/or maternal/pediatrics Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications DNP, PhD, or EdD in Nursing. 3 years of experience teaching at the college level, particularly at a community college. Experience teaching students nursing theory. Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners. Teaching experience includes both in-person and online modalities. An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. A commitment to diversity and an understanding of how diversity impacts learning and instruction. Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.

Additional Information:

Review of applications will begin in November of 2026 and will continue until the position is filled. A current resume or curriculum vitae is required. Professional letters of reference are required. New tenure-track full-time faculty with a terminal degree will normally be appointed at the rank of assistant professor, as per the college's Professional Staff Handbook.

Working Conditions:

The performance of this work is held primarily in-person and on-site at the Poughkeepsie campus, though assignments and clinicals may not be limited to the immediate Poughkeepsie area. Instructional assignments may be scheduled in daytime and/or evening.

Dutchess United Educators (DUE), Tenure Track Full-Time Teaching Educator Full-time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educators (DUE)
