Job Description

Position Summary The Registered Nurse Supervisor oversees nursing operations and resident care during the assigned shift. Responsibilities include supervising nursing personnel, assessing residents, responding to changes in condition, coordinating admissions, reviewing documentation, supporting medication and treatment oversight, and ensuring timely communication with physicians, families, and nursing leadership. The RN Supervisor is expected to exercise independent clinical judgment, address urgent concerns promptly, direct staff effectively, and ensure continuity of care between shifts. Essential Responsibilities Shift Leadership and Nursing Supervision Staffing, Assignments, and Shift Coverage Resident Rounds and Clinical Oversight Changes in Condition and Physician Notification Assess residents promptly when a change in condition is reported or observed. Admissions, Readmissions, and Discharges Physician Orders, Laboratory Results, and Follow-Up Medication Administration Oversight Treatments, Skin Integrity, and Wound Concerns Falls, Injuries, and Incident Response Hospital Transfers and Emergencies Documentation and Shift Review Staff Coaching and Immediate Accountability Infection Prevention, Safety, and Resident Rights Interdisciplinary Communication and Shift Handoff Qualifications Current, active registered nurse license in the state where the facility operates. Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a related clinical setting preferred. Previous supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills. Working knowledge of medication administration, physician orders, documentation, and resident care planning. Ability to supervise licensed nurses and CNAs effectively and prioritize competing clinical responsibilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. Performance Expectations Assess residents promptly when changes in condition are reported or observed. Obtain necessary assessment findings and vital signs before contacting the physician whenever clinically appropriate. Ensure physician orders and nursing interventions are implemented without unnecessary delay. Address staffing, resident-care, documentation, and employee-performance concerns during the assigned shift. Provide clear direction to licensed nurses and CNAs and report significant or recurring concerns to nursing leadership. Complete accurate documentation and thorough shift handoffs. Maintain accountability for resident care and nursing operations throughout the shift. Role Distinction and Delegated Authority The RN Supervisor is responsible for immediate clinical oversight, staff direction, incident response, and shift-level follow-through. Formal discipline, department-wide performance improvement plans, prolonged corrective-action monitoring, and broader nursing-system management generally remain the responsibility of the ADON and DON unless specifically delegated.

From $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
