Position Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor is expected to fulfill the essential duties to ensure direction and staffing for the Winfield House and to continue to provide quality care, services, and safety for all residents. Provides and coordinates nursing care and treatment for residents of The Myron Stratton Home by administering medications, performing first aid, working closely with outside providers, and monitoring the safety and well-being of the residents. Primary Job Duties Essential Functions Provides 24-hour on-call direction for Winfield House staff to provide continuity and quality of resident care. Hires, Supervises, schedules and trains all Nursing staff employees. Responsible for annual evaluations of all department employees. Remains informed of day-to-day activities of Winfield House to assure ability to provide direction to staff in order to provide quality care and safety of all residents. Ensures that resident care is carried out as directed. Effectively communicates with the Senior Services Director all pertinent information regarding the status of services, residents, staffing, significant issues or concerns, etc. Develops with the Senior Services Director, Case Manager, resident and resident's family or loved ones the plan of care to meet the resident's needs. Maintains familiarity with and follows all Personal Care Boarding Home and Alternative Care Facility regulations and any other applicable State or Federal Regulations. Shall develop a familiarity with and follow all applicable MSH Policies/Procedures. Contributes to patient care and is responsible for the assessment of resident overall condition(s). Administers patient medications by preparing medications; administering specified medication orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injections; recording dosage and time in patient record; maintaining logs. Maintains Resident records to include chart and medication administration record (MAR); Transcribes physician orders to MAR; document items appropriately in chart Shall observe care needs and concerns of residents and communicate with the physician, nurse, or supervisor as necessary. Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches. Improves nursing and healthcare organization job knowledge by maintaining licensure; attending training sessions. Learn the Eden Alternative philosophy of care and service and will integrate that philosophy into the daily routine. Supports laboratory testing by collecting samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum.

QUALIFICATIONS
High School or GED
  • Required Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Required Active BLS certification in Heartsaver AED/CPR-upon hire
  • Required First Aid certification-within 90-days of hire
  • Required At least 6 months of work in the medical field with other licensure/education
  • Required Must be able to stand for moderate periods of time; able to lift heavy objects, able to stoop, kneel and reach in high places Have the ability to hear and talk on a telephone, talk with residents, other staff and the general public.
Able to operate small equipment. Have the ability to observe and report resident status and change of condition to physician, supervisor, and/or nurse. Have the ability to understand and follow written oral instructions.
