Job Description
OhioHealth is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will oversee daily nursing operations, ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, and support clinical staff through coaching, mentoring, and performance management. You will coordinate staffing, collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and promote evidence-based practice and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and support to nursing staff on assigned units, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Coordinate and oversee patient care delivery, including staffing assignments, workload distribution, and real-time problem-solving during each shift. Monitor clinical practice standards, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory compliance, taking corrective action and providing education as needed. Mentor, develop, and evaluate nursing staff through regular feedback, performance discussions, and participation in hiring and onboarding. Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes and care transitions. Support and model Ohio Health's mission, values, and inclusive culture, promoting compassion, respect, and equitable care for all patients and families. Lead and participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives, using data to drive process changes. Assist with scheduling, time and attendance oversight, and resource allocation to maintain appropriate staffing and efficient operations. Serve as an on-unit clinical resource, offering guidance on complex patient situations, escalations, and critical decision-making. Communicate clearly with patients, families, and staff, fostering a culture of transparency, teamwork, and continuous learning. Required Skills Clinical nursing expertise in acute care or similar hospital setting Staff supervision and team leadership Patient care coordination and discharge planning Strong clinical decision-making and critical thinking Electronic Health Record (EHR) proficiency Knowledge of infection prevention and patient safety standards Performance management and staff coaching Conflict resolution and de-escalation Time management and prioritization in fast-paced settings Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication Quality improvement and data-informed practice Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission) Basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ACLS) skills as applicable Delegation and workload management Cultural competence and trauma-informed care principles
