Job Description

Are you an experienced RN who understands private duty or home nursing and is ready to take greater ownership of a growing program? A well-established home care organization in the Chicagoland area is seeking a Private Pay Nursing Supervisor (RN) to provide clinical leadership for its private-pay skilled nursing program. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than check boxes: you will strengthen clinical operations, develop nurses, improve documentation and compliance, and partner with leadership to grow the program. The ideal candidate understands the realities of delivering nursing care in the home and knows how to balance clinical quality, regulatory expectations, client experience, and day-to-day operations. What You'll Do You will serve as the clinical leader and resource for the private-pay nursing program.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide clinical supervision, coaching, and support to RNs and LPNs caring for clients in their homes. Complete and oversee client assessments, plans of care, provider orders, supervisory visits, and other clinical requirements. Review nursing documentation for quality, completeness, clinical appropriateness, and regulatory compliance. Coach field nurses so documentation reflects clinical assessment, interventions, and professional judgment—not simply completion of required fields. Monitor clinical records and conduct audits to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. Evaluate nurse competencies and help ensure nurses are appropriately matched to client needs and acuity. Partner with Staffing and Operations to support nursing coverage and respond to clinical escalations. Serve as a trusted clinical resource for clients, families, field nurses, and internal team members. Partner with operational and business-development leaders to expand private-pay nursing services and support growth in new starts of care. Support quality assurance, survey readiness, corrective action, policy development, and consistent clinical standards as the program grows. What We're Looking For Active, unrestricted Illinois RN license. At least three years of professional nursing experience. Strong experience in home care, private duty nursing, home nursing, home health, or a closely related setting. Previous clinical leadership, nursing supervision, case management, or management experience. Strong knowledge of clinical documentation, assessments, care planning, provider orders, competency evaluation, and nursing supervision. Working knowledge of Illinois home nursing regulatory requirements. Ability to coach nurses and maintain accountability through a collaborative leadership style. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to appropriately escalate clinical or compliance concerns. Comfort working independently and advising operational leadership on clinical needs, risks, and opportunities. Strong client and family communication and service-recovery skills. Experience with WellSky or a similar home care EMR platform is a plus. Schedule & Travel This is a full-time position with a typical Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. schedule and occasional after-hours availability for clinical escalations. Approximately 50% travel throughout the Chicagoland area is expected, primarily within Lake and McHenry Counties. Most travel is planned in advance, although the Nursing Supervisor may occasionally need to step in when an urgent client or staffing need arises. The remaining time will primarily be office-based. Compensation & Benefits Target base salary of $100,000-$110,000. 15 days of paid time off. A meaningful voice in the continued development and growth of a private-pay nursing program. Why This Opportunity? This role is especially well suited for an RN who understands home nursing and wants an opportunity where their clinical judgment matters. You will be expected to learn the operation, identify opportunities, advise leadership, and help build a stronger nursing program. Success will include strengthening clinical documentation and compliance, developing the field nursing team, improving processes, and partnering with the business to increase nursing services and new starts of care. If you enjoy the combination of clinical leadership, operations, and program growth—and want an opportunity where you can make a visible impact—we'd love to connect. Apply confidentially to learn more.
