Director of Health Services/WMMS/HS Nurse

Job Description

Position Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or diploma from an accredited professional nursing education program 2. Valid Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) License issued by the Indiana State Board of Nursing 3. Proficient in student health appraisal techniques to identify health concerns 4. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and procedures 5. Working knowledge of basic first aid 6. Competency in data reporting and spreadsheet use 7. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 8. Minimum of two years as a Registered Nurse preferred 9. Experience in community health and supervisory roles strongly desired
Performance Responsibilities:
¨ Provide day-to-day health services for students in grades 6-12 ¨ Deliver direct care through assessments, Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), and school health protocols ¨ Provide health counseling, instruction, and review emergency procedures (AED, epinephrine) ¨ Conduct health assessments and ensure timely referrals and follow-up ¨ Serve as liaison between schools, families, healthcare professionals, and community organizations ¨ Secure emergency medical care when necessary ¨ Develop, implement, and evaluate IHPs and care plans for medically fragile students ¨ Act as a health advocate within the school community ¨ Oversee medication administration procedures across the district ¨ Coordinate mandatory health screenings and report data to CHIRP and state databases ¨ Educate staff and students on health-related topics and provide relevant community communications ¨ Participate in IEP and 504 meetings for students with medical needs ¨ Advise during crises and assist with suspected child abuse reporting ¨ Develop and evaluate health programs; recommend policy changes ¨ Maintain accurate, confidential health records and reports ¨ Requisition and maintain medical supplies and equipment inventory ¨ Identify and report potential health/safety hazards ¨ Provide nursing services as needed in schools ¨ Serve as liaison to the county and state health departments ¨ Monitor and maintain AED functionality and supplies across all schools ¨ Appropriately delegate tasks to LPNs ¨ Uphold standards of practice as detailed in the Indiana School Nurse Manual General Responsibilities ¨ Maintain confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical standards ¨ Interact professionally and respectfully with students, families, and staff ¨ Pursue ongoing professional development and competency ¨ Leverage current technology to support health services and data management ¨ Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and policies ¨ Keep current with health-related guidance and public health regulations ¨ Enforce school board policies related to student health and safety ¨ Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance and meeting participation ¨ Follow safety protocols, crisis plans, and participate in emergency drills ¨ Perform additional duties as assigned by Superintendent or administrators
