GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager and Registered Nurse. The Unit Coordinator's primary job function is to perform clerical duties associated with preparing, compiling, and maintaining patients' records in the Emergency Department. Coordinates functions for the Transfer Center. May be required to work on other nursing units. Supports each strategic value by providing exceptional care to those we serve. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required Ability to read, write, and speak English required Working knowledge of medical terminology required
Licensure:
None Experience:
Six months of healthcare related experience preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. Transcribes and processes physicians' orders. Orders tests, treatments, medications, and supplies. Maintains patents' records. Functions as a communications source for the nursing unit. Records data, reports, and enters patient charges and other information. Welcomes and greets those coming on the unit. Uses telephone etiquette following the SOMC's Code of Conduct. Performs Transfer Center coordination. Performs daily PICIS checks Wears Vocera Badge for CareView Monitoring and communication with nursing staff. Performs other job duties as assigned. Why SOMC?
