Full Job Description Job Summary :

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for assessing and providing therapeutic interventions to patients to improve their ability to perform daily activities. The OT will work with patients to enhance their functional independence and quality of life, while ensuring all services comply with Title 22, the California Business and Professions Code, and other relevant state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Evaluation and Assessment :

Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate the patient's ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, and mobility. Assess patients' cognitive, sensory, motor, and physical abilities to identify strengths and limitations that impact daily function. Review medical histories, diagnoses, and physician orders to determine appropriate therapy goals and interventions.

Develop and Implement Treatment Plans :

Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, abilities, and goals, in accordance with Title 22 and other relevant regulations. Implement interventions that address mobility, fine motor skills, self-care skills, and cognitive functions to improve independence. Modify treatment plans as needed based on patient progress and feedback, ensuring alignment with the patient's health condition and goals.

Patient Education and Training :

Educate patients and their families or caregivers on strategies to improve functional independence in daily tasks, including self-care, home management, and community participation. Train patients in the use of adaptive equipment or assistive devices to enhance independence in ADLs (e.g., grab bars, reachers, dressing aids). Healthcare Team :

Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, dietitians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Participate in team meetings to review patient progress, adjust care plans, and ensure that occupational therapy goals are integrated into the overall care plan. Communicate regularly with the care team to provide updates on patient status, share insights, and address any concerns regarding functional improvement. Compliance with

Regulations and Documentation :

Ensure all therapy services are delivered in compliance with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations, as well as other applicable state and federal laws, including the California Occupational Therapy Practice Act. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes in patient records, ensuring compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, timely, and adheres to privacy and confidentiality standards under HIPAA.

Quality Assurance and Safety :

Participate in quality assurance initiatives to monitor and improve the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions. Regularly assess and monitor the use of adaptive equipment and therapy techniques to ensure they are effective and safe. Assist in the development and implementation of safety protocols to reduce the risk of falls, injury, and other safety concerns for patients.

Program Development and Education :

Assist in the development of group programs and educational activities focused on improving patient function, such as cognitive training, adaptive living skills, and stress management. Provide in-service training to facility staff on occupational therapy interventions, adaptive devices, and techniques to support patients in their daily activities. Stay informed of the latest research and best practices in occupational therapy and share knowledge with staff and patients to enhance care delivery.

Supervision and Mentoring :

Supervise and mentor Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) and support staff, ensuring that interventions and therapy services are provided according to the established care plans and in compliance with regulations. Offer guidance and supervision to OTAs to enhance their professional development and ensure effective patient care delivery.

Qualifications:

Education :

Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Completion of supervised fieldwork and clinical internships as part of the occupational therapy education program.

Licensure :

Current and valid Occupational Therapist license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Occupational Therapy. Knowledge of and compliance with the California Occupational Therapy Practice Act and Title 22 regulations.

Experience :

Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in an ADHC, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting. Experience in providing therapy for older adults, including those with chronic medical conditions, cognitive impairments, and neurological disorders.

Skills :

Strong clinical skills in functional assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate patients, families, and staff. Strong organizational and time management skills to manage patient caseloads and documentation efficiently. Certifications (preferred): Certification in specialized therapy areas such as geriatrics, neurological rehabilitation, or pediatrics (e.g., NDT, LSVT, or other related certifications). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Pay:

From $46.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 per week
