OhioHealth is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment plans to help patients restore function, improve independence, and enhance quality of life across a variety of care settings. You'll collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and document progress in alignment with best practices. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, including assessment of functional abilities, cognition, vision, sensation, strength, range of motion, and activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs (IADLs) Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans and functional goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team Provide therapeutic interventions such as
ADL/IADL
training, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercise, activity tolerance training, cognitive and visual-perceptual retraining, and functional mobility training Fabricate or recommend splints, adaptive equipment, and durable medical equipment, and provide training in safe and effective use Educate patients, families, and caregivers on diagnosis, prognosis, home exercise programs, and strategies to maximize independence and safety at home and in the community Document assessments, goals, interventions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely within the electronic medical record, in accordance with Ohio Health policies and regulatory standards Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical and speech therapists, social workers, and case managers to coordinate patient care and participate in discharge planning Adhere to all professional, ethical, and regulatory standards, including infection control, patient privacy, and safety protocols Participate in continuing education, in-services, and professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical skills and support evidence-based practice Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, student mentoring, or departmental projects as requested Required Skills Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment planning Knowledge of functional anatomy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation principles ADL and IADL training Neuromuscular re-education and therapeutic exercise Cognitive and visual-perceptual assessment and intervention Splinting and upper extremity management Functional mobility and positioning techniques Patient and caregiver education Use of adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment (DME) Clinical reasoning and problem-solving Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication Time management and caseload prioritization Knowledge of reimbursement and regulatory requirements affecting therapy services Cultural competence and trauma-informed, patient-centered care
