Job Description

OhioHealth is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment plans to help patients restore function, improve independence, and enhance quality of life across a variety of care settings. You'll collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and document progress in alignment with best practices. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for patients with physical, cognitive, and psychosocial impairments. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans focused on functional independence and safety. Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living, upper extremity function, cognition, and functional mobility. Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, adaptive strategies, and use of assistive devices and durable medical equipment. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, case managers, and social workers to coordinate patient care and discharge planning. Document evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care conferences, and rounds as needed. Adhere to all regulatory, licensing, and payer requirements, as well as Ohio Health policies and clinical protocols. Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives within the department. Support the learning of students or new staff members through mentoring, precepting, or sharing of best practices. Demonstrate cultural humility and uphold Ohio Health's values of compassion, diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions. Required Skills Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment planning Knowledge of orthopedic, neurologic, and medical conditions affecting function ADL and IADL training Neuromuscular re-education Cognitive and perceptual rehab techniques Splinting and positioning principles Therapeutic exercise and activity analysis Functional mobility and transfer training Home safety and environmental modification recommendations Use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology Accurate clinical documentation in EMR systems (e.g., Epic) Interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication Patient and family education Time management and caseload prioritization Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance rehab guidelines Cultural competence and trauma-informed care principles
