Job Description

Occupational Therapist - Behavioral Health Part Time

About the JobMedStar Health is looking for a Part-time (16 hours per week) Behavioral Health Occupational Therapist to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center!



As a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats physician referred patients in all levels of care ages 13 years or older.

Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical:

Evaluates and treats referred patients using appropriate assessment tools and communicates findings via written and oral report. Formulates appropriate treatment plans and goals for all patients assessed in conjunction with AMHC Interdisciplinary Team. Supports the patient by providing education that leads towards growth and personal responsibility. Plans group treatment sessions with other staff and processes the group at its conclusions. Updates other professionals regarding patients' progress and collaboratively plans patient's course of treatment. Observes and documents patient activities in the medical record in a timely accurate and concise manner. Maintains equipment and supplies.

Team:

Acts as a departmental and hospital resource through informal leadership and technical expertise. Acts as a mentor to others on team and in AMHC. Participates in the orientation of new staff members assists with supervision of students and volunteers as needed

Development:

Maintains current knowledge certification and licensure. Identifies learning needs in self and initiates actions to address these education needs. Attends continuing education programs in order to maintain licensure. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Maintains compliance with Code 10 training Completes all mandatory requirements certifications and licensure within allotted timeframe for completion (CPR License PPD Competencies Age Specifics etc.)Organizational knowledge: Works effectively within and between departments. Participates on inter-departmental teams and committees communicating unit knowledge as appropriate. Provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff supervisors and managers both inside and outside the unit.



Minimal QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy requiredExperienceNew graduate with minimum 1 year experience preferredExperience with mental health preferredLicenses and CertificationsOT - Occupational Therapist licensure in Maryland requiredCPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days requiredAdditional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.



Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesAbility to read write speak and comprehend English.



Basic Computer skills to perform data entryComputerized clinical information systems such as AMHC database Clinicians and Chart HIPAA policies on Confidentiality This position has a hiring range of USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
