Key Qualifications:
Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams A thorough understanding of current best practices for orientation and mobility instruction Organizational skills to manage a varied caseload effectively
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct orientation and mobility services to 7 students, adapting instruction to specific individual needs Support 2 additional students through consultative services, offering guidance to school staff and families Conduct assessments to develop and update individualized education goals Document progress, prepare reports, and participate in IEP meetings as needed Serve as a knowledgeable resource on orientation and mobility topics within the school environment
