As a valued Orientation and Mobility Specialist, youll collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to design and implement effective strategies for students with visual impairments. Youll assess needs, tailor individualized instruction, and guide students as they acquire the skills necessary to navigate a variety of school and community environments safely and effectively.

Desired Qualifications:

Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Proven experience working with children and/or adolescents with visual impairments Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across multidisciplinary teams Ability to create customized lesson plans and track student progress Valid drivers license and willingness to travel between sites as needed Detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping abilities

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct in-depth assessments of students orientation and mobility needs Develop and deliver individualized instructionboth one-on-one and in group settings Provide comprehensive consultation and training to school staff and families Monitor student growth and document progress toward established goals Ensure all services and documentation comply with federal and state guidelines Offer input and participate in IEP meetings to advocate for students unique needs This contract role offers the chance to work closely with engaged educational teams and make an immediate impact on student development.
