Category Schools - OT Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing essential occupational therapy services for students in a supportive, close-knit educational environment near Toano, VA. This part-time role is designed to make a lasting impact, working with a caseload primarily consisting of elementary and pre-k students, in addition to one student in a medical homebound setting. You'll collaborate across two schools on a shared campus and help students develop skills vital to their academic and personal success.
Desired Background and Qualifications:
Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) with experience in school settings. Proficient in delivering OT support for elementary and pre-k populations; home health and teletherapy experience is a plus. Familiarity with case management, IEPs, and school-based documentation requirements. Comfortable collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Skilled in adapting activities and goals for diverse student needs and settings—including medical homebound. Open to COTAs as alternatives, though preference is for a dedicated in-person OT.
Role Responsibilities:
Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to a caseload of 23 students, primarily at the elementary/pre-k level. Work across two school sites on a shared campus, with the majority of sessions delivered at the elementary school. Support one student in a medical homebound setting, adapting interventions to meet medical and learning needs. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with school and state requirements. Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and collaborative planning with staff and families. Utilize a range of modalities, including possible teletherapy as appropriate. This part-time contract role offers 15-20 hours per week, with flexibility to coordinate services and manage your own schedule within the school calendar. The assignment is set through June 2027, providing continuity and relationship-building opportunities with your students. If you are passionate about school-based occupational therapy and want to support a diverse group of learners, apply now to make a meaningful difference in students' educational journeys!
