Job Description

We are seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Occupational Therapy Aide to join our school-based therapy team from November through April.

The Occupational Therapy Aide will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, with a primary focus on supporting students within their classrooms and school environments. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is interested in occupational therapy, special education, child development, rehabilitation, or a related field.

Responsibilities include:
  • Support students within the classroom with activities and strategies established by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist students with sensory-based, fine motor, visual-motor, organizational, and other school participation activities as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Help students engage and participate successfully in classroom routines and activities.
  • Support students in practicing established skills and strategies throughout their school day.
  • Observe student participation and track basic information using checklists or other data-collection tools provided by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Prepare and organize therapy materials, activities, visual supports, and equipment.
  • Communicate and collaborate with teachers, special educators, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other members of the educational team.
  • Ensure student safety during activities and transitions.
  • Travel between schools throughout the district based on student and program needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow school and district policies.
We are looking for someone who:

Is patient, positive, dependable, and enjoys working with children.

Has strong observation and listening skills.

Is comfortable working with students with a variety of developmental, physical, sensory, and learning needs.

Can follow specific plans and strategies established by a licensed Occupational Therapist.

Works well collaboratively with teachers and other school professionals.

Can be physically active throughout the school day, including walking throughout school buildings, sitting on the floor, and assisting with movement-based activities.

Is comfortable traveling between multiple schools during the workday.
