Job Description

OhioHealth is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will support licensed occupational therapists in delivering patient-centered care, implementing treatment plans, and documenting patient progress across inpatient and outpatient settings. You'll assist patients in restoring functional independence through therapeutic activities and education. Responsibilities Provide occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist Implement and progress individualized treatment plans to improve patients' ability to perform daily living and work-related tasks Lead patients through therapeutic activities, exercises, and functional training using appropriate techniques and equipment Assist with patient assessments by observing performance, reporting findings, and contributing to treatment planning Educate patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive strategies, and safe use of assistive devices Accurately document treatments, patient responses, and progress in the electronic medical record in a timely manner Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team, including OTs, PTs, speech therapists, nurses, and physicians, to coordinate comprehensive care Support discharge planning and community reintegration by providing input on functional status and equipment needs Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment and ensure proper infection control practices Adhere to all regulatory, ethical, and Ohio Health policies, including state practice acts and professional standards of care Participate in quality improvement initiatives, in-service education, and continuing education to support best practices in occupational therapy Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, empathy, and respect for diverse patient populations consistent with Ohio Health's mission and values Required Skills Therapeutic exercise and activity implementation Activities of daily living (ADL) training Functional mobility and transfer training Use and instruction of adaptive equipment and assistive devices Basic upper extremity strengthening and coordination techniques Cognitive and perceptual retraining support under OT direction Patient and family education Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Infection control and safety practices Interdisciplinary team collaboration Time management and caseload organization Basic knowledge of occupational therapy modalities and interventions Observation and clinical reasoning skills Professional and culturally sensitive communication
