Job Description

OhioHealth is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will support licensed occupational therapists in delivering patient-centered care, implementing treatment plans, and documenting patient progress across inpatient and outpatient settings. You'll assist patients in restoring functional independence through therapeutic activities and education. Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist Provide therapeutic interventions to improve patients' functional independence, safety, and quality of life Assist with patient assessments by gathering data and observing functional performance Instruct patients and families in therapeutic activities, home exercise programs, and use of adaptive equipment Monitor, document, and report patient progress and clinical observations in the electronic medical record Collaborate with occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and other team members to coordinate patient care Contribute to discharge planning, including home safety recommendations and community resources Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment, following infection control and safety standards Participate in professional development, in-services, and competency trainings to support continuous learning Demonstrate compassion, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to ethical and legal standards of practice Required Skills Therapeutic exercise and activity implementation ADL and IADL training Functional mobility and balance interventions Use and training of adaptive and assistive equipment Basic patient assessment and observation skills Rehabilitation documentation and EMR proficiency Patient and family education techniques Infection control and safety procedures Interdisciplinary team collaboration Time management and caseload organization Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and evidence-based practice Understanding of rehabilitation and discharge planning processes
