JOB DUTIES

Collect, assess and record required patient information such as medical history Implement treatment plans and help patients perform therapeutic activities Instruct patients and their families in the skills and techniques of a treatment program Monitor patients' performance and provide encouragement Document patient progress, attitudes and behavior Maintain accurate patient treatment records Maintain the work area and equipment; order supplies Attend meetings to review treatments and patient progress Maintain professional knowledge and technical progress to provide best treatments available Comply with federal, state and local certification requirements Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others Accurate clinical assessment skills regarding patient medical conditions Ability and willingness to accurately and appropriately document patient care notes in a timely manner in accordance with billing and regulatory requirements Computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Meditech Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduate of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant degree program certified by Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), required Current Kansas Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification, required Current BLS Certification, required 1-2 years' experience in an acute or clinical setting, preferred Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
