Masonic Care Community is looking for a full-time motivated, compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who will support the delivery of high quality care to residents in our short-term rehab as well as long term care within our skilled nursing facility.
Under the supervision of a licensed OT, the COTA will carry out individualized treatment plans to promote highest level of functional independence, safety and engagement in meaningful activities and improved quality of life. Key Responsibilities
Provide occupational therapy treatments (individualized, concurrent and group) as established in the plan of care, including therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activity, neuromuscular re-education, ADL/IADLs, balance activities, wheelchair management, orthotic management as well as modalities as permitted by NYS practice guidelines.
Assist residents in performing therapeutic exercises and functional activities to improve their strength, coordination, mobility and functional activity tolerance, cognition and
ADL/IADL
performance.
Document resident performance, progress and response to treatment and report any changes and/or recommendations to the supervising occupational therapist.
Participate in staff meeting, care conferences and discharge planning.
Participating in educating residents, families and caregivers for safe transfer/mobility techniques, self-care techniques, fall prevention and home exercise programs.
Maintain effective, accurate and timely documentation in accordance to facility, state and federal guidelines.
Demonstrate proper use of equipment and assist in ensuring a clean, safe and therapeutic environment.
Demonstrate professional, ethical and regulatory standards as well as compliance with HIPPA and facility policies. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited OTA program
Current state licensure or eligibility for NYS licensure as a
OTA/COTA
Experience in a skilled nursing facility as well as short term rehab and long term care
Excellent communication skills, teamwork and resident centered approach to care
Pay:
$26.00 - $29.00 per hour
