Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to foster independence and confidence. Support pediatric occupational therapy interventions for children with childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders, utilizing specialized techniques tailored to each child's needs. Collaborate with healthcare professionals—including physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists—to coordinate comprehensive care strategies. Facilitate patient transport within facilities or to external appointments while maintaining safety protocols through manual handling techniques. Engage in care documentation, progress notes, and communication with caregivers and clients to ensure continuity of care and clear understanding of treatment objectives. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Prior experience working in inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and care plan implementation across various populations including geriatrics and clients with neurodevelopmental disorders. Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs, pediatric occupational therapy interventions, and working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental delays. Ability to perform manual handling safely during patient transfers and treatment activities while adhering to safety standards. Strong communication skills for effective caregiver engagement and client interaction across diverse populations. Familiarity with medical imaging procedures is a plus but not required; a willingness to learn is essential.
