Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), where you will play a vital role in supporting patient recovery and enhancing quality of life through dedicated occupational therapy services. This flexible position offers the opportunity to work across various settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. As a key member of the therapy team, you will assist with implementing personalized care plans, facilitating patient progress, and collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care. Your expertise in pediatric occupational therapy, geriatrics, neurodevelopmental disorders, and disability management will be essential in helping clients achieve their goals and regain independence. Responsibilities Provide occupational therapy interventions and services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implement established occupational therapy plans of care and treatment goals. Assist clients in developing and improving functional skills related to activities of daily living, fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, self-regulation, social participation, and other areas of occupational performance. Work with diverse client populations, which may include children, adolescents, adults, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism spectrum disorder, and other developmental, behavioral, or physical needs. Monitor and document client progress toward established treatment goals. Communicate observations and changes in client performance to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Provide individual and/or group-based occupational therapy interventions as appropriate. Educate and collaborate with families, caregivers, staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team as appropriate. Complete treatment notes and other required clinical documentation accurately and within established timelines. Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, professional standards, clinic policies, and applicable state requirements. Provide services at the clinic and/or designated contracted or community-based locations. Perform other occupational therapy duties within the COTA's professional scope and competency as needed based on clinic and contractual service needs. Experience Prior experience working in inpatient settings such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience in outpatient clinics or home health environments supporting pediatric or geriatric populations. Familiarity with medical imaging procedures and understanding of medical terminology related to occupational therapy is advantageous. Proven ability to work with individuals experiencing childhood developmental delays or neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder. Hands-on experience assisting patients with acute care needs or in occupational health settings is a plus. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to occupational therapy interventions across diverse client populations including geriatrics and individuals with disabilities. Strong caregiver communication skills coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current Texas Occupational Therapy Assistant license in good standing. Current NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) . Experience working with pediatric, developmental disability, IDD, autism, behavioral health, or other diverse populations is preferred. Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt interventions based on each client's developmental, cognitive, sensory, physical, and behavioral needs. Ability to work collaboratively with an Occupational Therapist and other members of an interdisciplinary team. Reliable transportation and ability to travel to designated service locations when required. Schedule PRN | Minimum of Approximately 15 Hours per Week The position is PRN with an expected minimum of approximately 15 hours per week . Scheduling may be flexible and may be divided across multiple days or arranged in larger blocks based on client, clinic, and contractual needs. Services may be provided at the clinic and/or at designated contracted or community-based locations. Pay:
