Position Overview We are seeking a versatile, dual-role professional to join our team as an Optician and Optometry Technician . While a formal optician license is not required, prior experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology setting is mandatory. The ideal candidate can seamlessly transition between styling patients in the optical area and preparing them for their exams by running essential pretesting equipment prior to seeing the doctor.

Key Responsibilities Patient Pretesting:
Run equipment smoothly (including autorefractor, tonometer, and retinal imaging) to prepare patients for the doctor.
Optical Styling & Dispensing:
Assist patients with frame selection, styling, and lens options based on their unique prescriptions.
Lab & Repairs:
Take accurate optical measurements (PD, segment height) and adjust or repair eyewear.
Insurance Coordination:
Process vision insurance claims ( VSP and EyeMed only ) and explain benefits clearly to patients.
Inventory Control:
Order lenses and frames, verify incoming orders via lensometry, and manage optical inventory.
Front Desk Backup:
Provide occasional support, including phone management, patient scheduling, and check-in.
Required Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years working in an optometry, optical, or ophthalmology setting ( Required ).
Technical Equipment:
Hands-on experience operating ophthalmic pretesting equipment and lensometers.
Optical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of optical lens types, materials, and coatings.
Insurance Literacy:
Familiarity with vision insurance verification and billing practices (specifically VSP and EyeMed).
Core Skills:
Excellent customer service, communication, and multitasking skills.
Professionalism:
Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a clinical/retail environment.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Pay:
$23.00 - $26.00 per hour
