Job Description

Aspen Valley Hospital is seeking an Ophthalmology Technician to support ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care. In this role, you will perform patient intake, visual acuity testing, tonometry, pupil dilation, visual field and OCT imaging, and assist with minor in-office procedures. You'll document findings in the EHR, prepare exam rooms, maintain and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment, and provide clear instructions and education to patients. Working within a close-knit, patient-first team, you'll collaborate with providers to ensure efficient clinic flow and exceptional care for our mountain community. Responsibilities Perform patient intake, histories, and pre-exam screening Conduct visual acuity, tonometry, refraction support, and pupil dilation Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic equipment (OCT, visual fields, fundus camera) Assist ophthalmologists with in-office procedures and treatments Document exams and test results accurately in the EHRPrepare and stock exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness Educate patients on tests, treatments, and follow-up instructions Support efficient clinic flow and patient scheduling coordination Follow infection control, safety, and privacy standards Collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care Required Skills Visual acuity and tonometry testing Ophthalmic imaging (OCT, fundus photography, visual fields) Refraction support and lensometry basics Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation Infection control and clinical safety practices Patient education and communication Ophthalmic equipment operation and maintenance Basic medical terminology and ocular anatomy Clinical workflow and time management Team collaboration in outpatient care
