Job Description

Overview Join our growing practice as an Optometric Technician and Receptionist, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This energetic position combines front desk responsibilities with clinical support, offering a rewarding opportunity to work in a growing optometry setting. You will be the friendly voice patients hear first when placing their appointments, and the welcoming face patients see first, guiding them through their visit while assisting with essential clinical procedures that support accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment that promotes patient trust and satisfaction in our modern practice with a hometown feel. Primary Responsibilities Answer in-coming calls, schedule appointments, and maintain patient communication through our text messaging system. Greet patients warmly upon arrival, efficiently managing appointment check-ins and check-outs using our Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Collect comprehensive patient intake information, including medical history updates, current medications, and insurance details while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Obtain patient history and perform pre-exam diagnostics, including Visual Fields, Visual Acuities, Tonometry, Retinal Imaging, etc. Operate medical equipment accurately, including ophthalmic diagnostic imaging devices, ensuring proper aseptic technique to prevent contamination. Manage patient records meticulously, updating medical histories and test results in EMR/EHR systems while safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times. Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring patients feel cared for throughout their visit. Support clinic operations by handling administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, processing insurance claims, and managing retail eyewear transactions with retail math proficiency. Perform contanct lens insertion and removal training. Work in conjunction with Marketing at events and with social media content. Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings to keep informed of changes and updates in office. Experience Prior experience working in an ophthalmology or optometry clinic. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and anatomy enhances your ability to support clinical staff effectively. Hands-on experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic equipment like tonometers, A-scans, or visual field analyzers is advantageous. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems and processing vision insurance claims ensures efficient documentation and data accuracy. Strong patient service skills combined with excellent communication abilities are essential for creating a positive patient and practice experience. Previous front desk or reception experience in a healthcare setting will help you excel in managing appointments and administrative duties seamlessly. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality aligns with our clinic's standards for privacy and security.

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
