Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process to ensure accurate documentation. Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation levels to support clinical assessments. Prepare patients for examinations by applying aseptic techniques and assisting with ophthalmic testing equipment setup. Support ophthalmologists during exams by handling instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient comfort. Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems like NextGen to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently. Assist with optical tasks including lens measurements and basic frame adjustments to enhance patient satisfaction. Perform administrative duties at the front desk such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support clinic operations by handling billing, coding procedures accurately, and processing insurance claims related to ophthalmic services. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following aseptic techniques to prevent infections and ensure safety standards are met. Collaborate with team members on retail sales of eyewear products, applying retail math skills to achieve sales goals while providing excellent customer service. Requirements Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred; strong clinic experience is a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and ophthalmology procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as NextGen or similar platforms for documentation purposes. Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement and intake procedures confidently. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Experience with medical billing and coding processes related to ophthalmic services is advantageous. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
