Your Impact as an Ophthalmic Technician As a vital member of our clinical team, you'll provide direct patient care and perform a wide range of essential ophthalmic tests and measurements , providing crucial data to our physicians and directly assisting in patient management . Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Comprehensive Patient Workups:
Conducting thorough patient histories , measuring visual acuity , performing autorefraction , and administering BAT (Brightness Acuity Tester) .
Advanced Diagnostic Testing:
Operating and performing tests such as automated visual fields (VF) , corneal topography , specular microscopy , and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) .
Refractive Assessment:
Performing precise manifest refractions to determine accurate eyeglass prescriptions.
Ophthalmic Imaging:
Capturing high-quality fundus photography for detailed retinal examination.
Biometric Measurements:
Performing A-scan biometry for intraocular lens (IOL) calculations.
Clinical Scribing:
Accurately scribing for physicians during patient examinations, documenting findings in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) .
Patient Flow Management:
Ensuring efficient patient flow between waiting areas and exam rooms .
Medication Administration:
Administering topical ophthalmic drops (anesthetic, dilating, medicated) per physician instructions.
Supply Management:
Maintaining an adequate stock of ophthalmic supplies and medications in exam and testing rooms.
Patient Education:
Reviewing and dispensing relevant patient education handouts on various eye conditions and treatments.
Team Collaboration:
Providing reliable support to the department and assisting physicians with additional projects as needed. What You Bring to the
Team:
We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual who is eager to contribute to our patient-focused environment. Minimum one year of
Ophthalmic Technician Experience:
Demonstrated proficiency in performing a wide array of ophthalmic tests and assisting ophthalmologists/optometrists.
Certification Highly Valued:
COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) and/or COT (Certified Ophthalmic Technician) certification is given special consideration!
Team Player Mindset:
A strong commitment to excellent patient care and collaborating effectively with physicians and support staff.
Adaptability:
Willingness to work evenings and Saturdays to meet the needs of our high-volume practice.
Strong Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate with patients and colleagues. Attention to
Detail:
Meticulous in recording patient data and performing precise measurements.
Computer Proficiency:
Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and electronic health record systems .
Reliable Commute:
Ability to reliably commute to and work in our Englewood, NJ office.
