Job Description

Overview We are seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant with experience in Optometry or Ophthalmology. We desire a thoughtful, kind, detail-oriented, customer oriented person to join our team. We do also value medical office experience, especially people familiar with EMR and medication names. The ideal candidate will be a person who enjoys helping others, learns quickly, did well in math and English in school, likes problem solving and strongly desires to learn about the eye. We offer a great work environment. We are a private small practice so there isn't a "corporate" mentality. We celebrate our successes together and have a team approach to our days. We have a competitive benefit package as well, offering PTO, Health Insurance, Health Savings, 401K, etc. Duties Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and ensuring a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments, tonometry, ocular motility evaluations, biometry, pachymetry, etc. Maintain accurate patient records, recording previous histories, current ailments, medications, etc. At the physician's direction, provide patients with information regarding their eye health, treatment options, and post-operative care instructions. Learn and then utilize knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare providers. Requirements Previous medical office experience. Familiarity with medical terminology. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and anatomy related to eye care is beneficial. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently is required. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients and team members is required. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus. Successful candidates will have good computer and typing skills. A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Available to work from 8 to 5.
