It requires a comprehensive knowledge of machine operation, finish work, and employee mentoring & training. Previous experience in an optical lab is required.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Setup, operation and light maintenance on optical machinery to perform polishing, beveling, grinding, flats and blanks.
  • Proficient with adjustment of cutting tools for specific curvatures, dimensions and depths.
  • Inspection of lenses in process for surface smoothness and coating thickness.
  • Able to shape lenses appropriately to fit into frames.
  • Proficient with use of precision instruments to verify alignment, order conformance and quality parameters.
  • Able to mount, secure and align finished lenses in frames or optical assemblies, including drill mounts.
  • Use of Lensometer to confirm prescription on finished lenses.
  • Clean finished lenses and eyeglasses with cloths and solvents.
  • Ensure accurate and timely assembly of finished goods through the 4-point quality check process.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
  • Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Strong attention to detail including physical work and reporting.
  • Able to receive critical feedback and develop stronger communication and working skills with collaboration of supervisor and optical team.
  • Preferred experience in lead or supervisor capacity. Able to train new and growing employees in optical lab operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, standard office and lab systems such as RX Universe, Vision Web, rail Mix, Quoka, etc.
  • Adaptability to work as needed in different areas throughout the day.
  • Willingness to report problems in working processes and machinery with escalation as needed.
  • Able to maintain good attendance and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirement:
  • Able to stand and walk for a majority of the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25lbs.
  • Requires manipulation of small tools, equipment and pieces.
  • Use of hands, wrists and fingers throughout the day.
  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to moving machinery, fluctuating noises and exposure to chemicals.
Able to work overtime as needed. Effective candidates must be able to pass a preemployment background check and drug testing.
Pay:
$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
