Dispense spectacle lenses, fit eyewear frames, and make precise adjustments to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction. Operate optical laboratory equipment for lens cutting, edging, and mounting, maintaining aseptic techniques and safety standards. Manage patient records accurately within EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or other clinic-specific software, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and medical confidentiality policies. Assist patients with eyewear fittings, sales transactions using POS systems, and provide expert advice on optics and eyewear options. Conduct vital signs assessments when necessary, especially in senior or pediatric care settings, adhering to health regulation policies. Maintain inventory of optical supplies, perform basic math calculations for billing and lab work, and operate cash registers efficiently. Qualifications Proven experience in retail optometry or clinical optical settings with knowledge of ophthalmology practices. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, medical coding, and medical billing procedures. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology related to eye care, and health regulation policies. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms; proficiency in optical laboratory processes is preferred. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care clients. Knowledge of spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical laboratory techniques. Ability to perform basic math accurately for sales transactions and medical record keeping; experience with POS systems is advantageous.
