New View Eye Care is a patient-first optometry practice focused on providing the best possible care and education to our patients. We're looking for a friendly, energetic person who loves interacting with people and excels at customer service to fill a new Optician role. This role is vital in enhancing patients' vision and overall well-being. As an energetic and detail-oriented professional, you will assist customers in selecting the perfect eyewear, ensure accurate lens dispensing, and uphold the highest standards of clinical confidentiality and health regulation policies. You will also be responsible for ordering, organizing, and tracking patient orders, as well as fitting and adjusting frames. Your expertise in optics, medical terminology, and retail sales will drive a positive experience for every patient while maintaining compliance with state healthcare regulations and HIPAA standards. Our practice is team-oriented and cross-trained, so at times you'll be expected to answer phones, schedule patients, help with insurance verification, and handle other tasks that arise day to day, all while providing a great experience for our patients. We are looking for a candidate who has experience in the field, has exceptional communication skills, can multitask, and has a passion for helping people and the business grow.

Candidate requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent At least 1 years of experience in the optical field Familiarity working with vision and medical insurance including Eyemed, Spectera, and Davis Vision, VSP, etc. Knowledge of lenses, contact lenses, and frames Great interpersonal and customer service skills Organizational skills and ability to keep track of multiple patient orders Computer skills Self motivated and driven to improve Full or Part Time availability for the right candidate Saturday availability is required

Job Responsibilities:

Ability to sell premium quality glasses and contact lenses Skilled in fitting, adjustment, and dispensing glasses Customer education and service Ability to learn optical inventory and products to provide the most appropriate selections for the patient Check-in / verify optical orders Answer phones to schedule patients and answer general questions Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently during retail transactions while maintaining accuracy in medical coding and billing procedures Verify insurances and interpret benefits from a large variety of medical and vision plans Have the willingness and flexibility to learn and adapt in a variety of situations Knowledge of health regulation policies such as HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and medical records management

Pay:

$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 40.0 per week
