About the
Role:
Meritus Health is seeking a compassionate and reliable Patient Transporter to join our Nursing Services team. In this essential role, you'll ensure the safe and timely movement of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the medical center. Whether you're assisting with patient transfers, delivering lab specimens, or supporting the OR team, your work will directly impact the quality of care and comfort our patients receive.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely transport patients between nursing units, OR, and holding rooms Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families Assist with patient transfers under the supervision of licensed nurses Deliver lab specimens and supplies promptly and accurately Follow protocols for transporting deceased patients to the mortuary Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment at all times
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience in patient transport, care, or customer service is a plus Current BLS (CPR) certification required Strong communication skills and a caring bedside manner Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
Physical & Mental Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) High attention to detail and ability to focus for extended periods Exposure to clinical environments including blood, body fluids, and temperature fluctuations Caring for Our Team We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees' well-being and professional growth.
