Small Group Training Instructor Job Purpose The Small Group Training Instructor is responsible for leading safe, engaging, and motivating small group training sessions. This role delivers high-quality coaching, provides personalized attention within a group setting, and supports members in achieving their fitness goals while upholding the facility's standards for service, safety, and professionalism. Operations Program Delivery Plan, prepare, and deliver structured small group training sessions aligned with facility guidelines and training philosophies. Demonstrate correct exercise techniques and ensure proper form for all participants. Modify exercises for varying fitness levels, limitations, and goals. Maintain high energy, engagement, and motivation throughout each session. Member Experience Build rapport with participants and create a welcoming, inclusive training environment. Provide individual coaching cues, support, and accountability within a group model. Track participant progress when required and offer feedback to help members improve performance and achieve goals. Communicate clearly and professionally with participants before, during, and after sessions. Safety & Professional Standards Ensure all sessions follow facility safety standards and industry best practices. Properly inspect equipment before and after sessions; report maintenance needs promptly. Maintain required certifications, including CPR/AED. Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and customer service expectations. Team Collaboration Attend staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education sessions as required. Collaborate with the fitness team to support programming, special events, and member engagement initiatives. Assist in promoting small group training programs within the facility. Requirements Current nationally recognized fitness certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ISSA, ACSM, AFAA, NFPT). Current CPR/AED certification. Experience coaching individuals or groups in a fitness environment. Strong communication and motivational skills. Preferred Previous experience specifically with small group training formats (functional training, HIIT, strength circuits, etc.). Knowledge of corrective exercise or functional movement training. Ability to work varied hours—including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to demonstrate exercises and perform physical movements for extended periods. Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to monitor participants visually and verbally to ensure safety.
