RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide and oversee pharmacy services, including medication preparation, compounding, pharmacist-to-dose monitoring, and safe medication distribution.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication selection, availability, dosing, interactions, side effects, and incompatibilities.
Supervise Pharmacy Technicians and help ensure effective use of pharmacy personnel and resources.
Use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to support high-quality, cost-effective patient care and improve pharmacy processes and outcomes.
Assist with quality assurance, safety, infection control, environmental protection, inventory control, and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee activities.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Registered Pharmacist (RPh) credential.
Current pharmacist licensure in the State of Alaska.
Completion of a pharmacy residency or two years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to practice professionally with minimal supervision while exercising sound clinical judgment.
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary patient care team.
Ability to supervise and support Pharmacy Technicians while serving as a positive role model for pharmacy staff.
Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, including medication preparation and compounding activities and working within a secured pharmacy and clean-room environment. ENVIRONMENTThe South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The position involves frequent interaction with patients, healthcare professionals, the public, wholesalers, and pharmaceutical representatives and requires a calm, courteous, and professional approach. Job hazards may include exposure to hazardous medications, sterile compounding materials, and other workplace or medication-handling hazards, requiring strict adherence to hospital safety procedures and applicable regulations.
