DF3251 SUMMARY
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is activelyseeking a dynamic faculty member with a focus on Pharmacokinetics/Biopharmaceutics . This faculty position in Pharmacokinetics balances local campus interests with program imperatives and the needs of the discipline while maintainingongoing scholarly activities. The position reports to the Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
KEY JOBELEMENTS
Provide didactic, laboratory, and small group teaching as well Serve as a mentor, advocate, andadviser to students and peer faculty members to guide their scholarly development and career aspirations. Conduct scholarlyactivities within the department, school, and university. Provide input to management when requested for: planning, budget,personnel resource allocation, program development, and implementation for the department. Review and recommend modifications to theDepartment's goals and objectives annually, aligning them with the Missions and Strategic Plan of South University and the School ofPharmacy. Prepare reports and other documents as requested by the administration. Assure assigned courses are appropriatelyupdated for catalog narrative, course criteria, and descriptions for the department's contributions to the annual university catalog updateare complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner. Assure a positive, cooperative relationship between the Department ofPharmaceutical Sciences and the school and university staff and faculty at all School of Pharmacy campuses. Assist in recruitmentand retention of quality faculty and students for all of the School of Pharmacy campuses. In concert with the Department Chair andother School administrators, provide orientation for faculty and staff within the department. Design and provide developmentalactivities for faculty and staff. Perform annual peer faculty teaching evaluations. Actively promote professionalism andcommitment to the profession of pharmacy. Attend school and university functions where the presence of faculty and staff isrequired. Attend conferences, seminars, and conventions that are beneficial to the School of Pharmacy and itsstudents. Actively and professionally promote the School of Pharmacy and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences to thepublic. Serve as an advocate and leader for pharmacy in local, state, and national pharmacy affairs, appropriately representing theimage and Serve as assigned on South University or School of Pharmacy Committees as assigned. Perform other duties asassigned by the Dean or Departmental Chair
JOB REQUIREMENTS
(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Knowledge:
PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a professional focus inPharmacokinetics. Post-Doctoral experience in Pharmacokinetics or a related field is required Prior teaching experience inthe relevant field is required. Membership in a professional association tied to the area of instruction, preferred.
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successfulrelationships with student populations. Outstanding conflict resolution skills Demonstrated time management anddetail-oriented skills. Computer-based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills).
Abilities:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accreditation criteria, state agency regulations, andacademic journals. Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from students, regulatory agencies, and members of the academic orPharmacy community Ability to effectively present information to faculty, academic and campus leaders, corporate leaders, and publicgroups.
