•RWJBarnabas Health At RWJBarnabas Health, the Pharmacist I plays a critical role in patient care and operational excellence. Operating with a high level of independence, they optimize patient safety through comprehensive medication therapy management according to legal, regulatory, and hospital standards. They are responsible for reviewing and verifying orders, compounding sterile and non-sterile products, providing direct oversight of pharmacy technicians, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical care. A typical day for a Pharmacist I may include: Reviews, perfects, and verifies medication orders for completeness, accuracy, and clinical appropriateness in accordance with pharmaceutical care standards Prepares or supervises the accurate dispensing of medications including unit dose systems, automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), and investigational drugs Compounds sterile and non-sterile products, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and extemporaneous preparations Evaluates critical medication issues by performing pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dose adjustments, medication reconciliation, and therapeutic or formulary substitutions Utilizes downtime efficiently to complete assigned learner modules, maintain competencies, and provide direct oversight and delegation of tasks to pharmacy technicians Demonstrates clinical precision by utilizing EPIC to accurately document clinical interventions and daily pharmaceutical activities Consults professionally with physicians, nurses, and providers regarding medication therapy while delivering exceptional customer service and drug information Maintains strict compliance with regulatory requirements, Department of Pharmacy practice standards, and hospital policies Adheres to RWJBarnabas Health organizational competencies and standards of behavior while executing other duties or projects as assigned This role might be for you if: Clear, compassionate communication defines how you interact with patients, families, and colleagues Attention to detail and clinical precision guide your work every day, understanding that errors have serious consequence You remain calm and highly adaptable while managing a fast-paced retail environment Patient safety, accurate drug evaluation, and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care are your top priorities You enjoy working collaboratively with providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams Continuous learning, inventory awareness, and operational efficiency motivate you Creating a positive, reassuring, and legally compliant patient experience is central to your approach To be considered for this Pharmacist I opportunity: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, or holder of an FPGEC certification with completed internship hours Must hold and maintain an active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in good standing from the State of New Jersey Proficiency in the use of EPIC and other hospital or pharmacy software required for the position Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or other advanced degree preferred Previous hospital pharmacy experience or completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency preferred Ability to work at both the Vogel Medical Campus and Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
