A pharmacy technician assists a pharmacist in the process of filling a prescription. The technician will perform pharmaceutical care tasks under the control and guidance of a licensed pharmacist. A technician must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy and obtain continuing education hours pursuant with that registration yearly. Qualifications for the job... High school education or equivalent required. Ability to read and write, prepare and interpret written instructions and make arithmetical calculations. Require basic typing ability of 20 wpm to access data in pharmacy computer system. Certification as a pharmacy technician required. Six months' of continuous experience in a pharmacy position with I.V. admixture service experience. Ability to provide guidance and training to other pharmacy technicians and students.
