We are seeking a dependable, professional, and compassionate Mobile Blood Collector / Phlebotomist to provide convenient blood collection services to patients in their homes, workplaces, assisted living facilities, nursing facilities, and other approved locations. The Mobile Blood Collector is responsible for safely and accurately collecting blood specimens, verifying patient information, properly labeling and handling specimens, completing required documentation, and ensuring specimens are transported to the appropriate laboratory in accordance with established procedures. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, traveling to different locations, interacting professionally with patients and healthcare providers, and maintaining strict standards for patient safety, confidentiality, and specimen integrity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Travel to patients' homes, healthcare facilities, workplaces, and other designated locations to perform blood collections. Verify patient identity using required identification procedures before collection. Review laboratory orders and confirm the requested tests and specimen requirements. Explain the blood collection procedure to patients and answer basic questions professionally. Obtain blood specimens using proper venipuncture and, when applicable, capillary collection techniques. Follow appropriate infection-control, safety, and bloodborne-pathogen procedures. Select and use the appropriate collection tubes, needles, equipment, and supplies. Properly label all specimens immediately after collection according to laboratory requirements. Check specimens for proper quantity, labeling, and collection requirements. Handle, package, store, and transport specimens according to laboratory and regulatory requirements. Maintain specimen integrity throughout the collection and transportation process. Complete all required paperwork, electronic documentation, requisitions, and collection records accurately. Communicate collection status, unsuccessful draws, delays, incidents, or specimen concerns to the appropriate office or laboratory personnel. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked mobile phlebotomy supply kit. Dispose of needles and other biohazardous materials safely and according to applicable regulations. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Provide respectful and compassionate service to patients of different ages, backgrounds, and medical conditions. Follow company policies, laboratory procedures, OSHA requirements, HIPAA/privacy requirements, and applicable state regulations. Report adverse reactions, injuries, incidents, or safety concerns promptly. Maintain professional communication with patients, family members, caregivers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and company staff. Manage assigned appointments efficiently and arrive at scheduled locations on time. Maintain accurate mileage, travel, appointment, and collection records when required. Participate in required training, competency assessments, and continuing education. Patient Care Responsibilities The Mobile Blood Collector must provide a positive patient experience while maintaining professionalism and safety.
Responsibilities include:
Treating every patient with dignity, patience, and respect. Helping patients feel comfortable before and during the blood draw. Recognizing when a patient may be anxious, faint, or having difficulty tolerating the procedure. Following appropriate procedures for difficult or unsuccessful collections. Providing appropriate post-collection instructions. Reporting any unusual patient reaction or incident according to company procedures. Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries while working in patients' homes and private environments. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program preferred/required as applicable. Current phlebotomy certification preferred or required based on state and employer requirements. Previous venipuncture experience preferred. Strong knowledge of blood collection techniques and specimen handling. Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by company policy. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel independently to multiple patient locations. Must be able to pass required background checks and other employment screenings. Physical Requirements The position may require the employee to: Travel frequently to patient locations. Stand and walk for extended periods. Sit, bend, reach, and move equipment and supplies. Carry a mobile phlebotomy supply kit. Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with specimen collection. Work in a variety of environments, including private homes and healthcare facilities. Pay:
Up to $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 per week
