In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients with precision and compassion, ensuring accurate labeling, handling, and documentation. Your expertise will support diagnostic testing, patient care, and overall laboratory operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to patient health outcomes while working in a dynamic clinical environment. Duties Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity Collect, process, and handle specimens according to laboratory procedures and safety standards Verify patient identity and accurately document all collection details in electronic health records (EHR) systems Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and maintaining a professional demeanor Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition during specimen collection, especially in geriatrics and pediatrics populations Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols such as aseptic technique Handle specimen transportation and storage carefully to prevent contamination or deterioration Support laboratory staff with data entry, specimen processing, and other clerical tasks as needed Follow all safety protocols including Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and CPR when required Assist with inventory management of supplies and ensure proper handling of blood samples for testing Experience Prior experience in a medical laboratory setting or clinical environment is highly preferred Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods such as venipuncture and blood sampling Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and laboratory workflows to ensure accurate specimen handling Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for data entry and documentation Hospital or healthcare facility experience is advantageous, especially in pediatrics or geriatrics care settings Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required or highly recommended Ability to lift heavy objects safely when handling supplies or specimens; physical stamina for standing long hours Join our team as a Phlebotomist where your skills directly impact patient care!
