Responsibilities Conduct blood draws and specimen collections using proper venipuncture techniques, ensuring patient comfort and safety Assist patients with specimen collection procedures, providing clear instructions and reassurance throughout the process Handle specimens with aseptic technique, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and transportation to laboratory facilities Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, including data entry and patient information updates Perform vital signs measurement and basic patient assessments as needed to support clinical workflows Adhere strictly to laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and infection control standards during all specimen collection activities Lift heavy supplies or equipment when necessary to support mobile operations while maintaining safety standards Communicate effectively with patients of all ages—including pediatrics and geriatrics—demonstrating empathy and professionalism at all times Skills Proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen handling specific to phlebotomy and clinical laboratory work Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to blood sampling and patient care Hands-on experience with venipuncture (blood draws), blood sampling, and specimen processing in hospital or clinical settings Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and record keeping Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage patients compassionately across diverse populations Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection CPR/BLS certification preferred to ensure readiness for emergency situations involving patients during procedures Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting while maintaining attention to safety standards Experience working in hospital environments or with specialized populations such as pediatrics or geriatrics is highly desirable Embark on a rewarding career that combines mobility with meaningful patient interaction.
