Job Description

Massapequa Center Rehabilitation & Nursing is committed to improving our patients' quality of life and independence through innovative rehabilitative services and exceptional, person-centered care. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our interdisciplinary team of skilled healthcare professionals at our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Amityville, NY . Position Overview As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work closely with Physical Therapists and other members of the rehabilitation team to provide high-quality, individualized care to our residents. You will play an important role in helping patients regain mobility, strength, independence, and confidence throughout their rehabilitation journey. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist Physical Therapists in providing individualized treatment and rehabilitative care to patients. Guide patients through prescribed exercises and therapeutic activities. Assist residents with the use of walkers, mobility aids, and other therapeutic equipment. Utilize therapeutic techniques such as stretching, exercise, and massage as directed by the Physical Therapist. Assist with safely transporting residents to and from the therapy area. Observe patients before, during, and after treatment and communicate progress or concerns to the Physical Therapist. Educate patients and their families on exercises, activities, and recommendations following treatment. Maintain a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for all patients. Qualifications Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license preferred. CPR Certification preferred. Previous experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant preferred. Skilled nursing or rehabilitation experience is a plus. Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented approach to patient care. Strong communication and organizational skills.
