Physician Assistant - Surgery - Cardiovascular & Thoracic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery for a 60-day assignment starting Nov 23, 2026, in New Hampshire. This role involves comprehensive pre-operative evaluations, first assisting in cardiothoracic procedures including CABG and valve surgeries, and managing post-operative care in the ICU and step-down units, with a schedule including rotating call on weekends and weekdays. Responsibilities and Duties Perform comprehensive preoperative evaluations, including H&Ps, ordering/interpreting diagnostics, obtaining consents, and preparing patients for surgery First assist in cardiothoracic procedures including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and other thoracic surgeries Perform vein and artery harvesting, assist with hemostasis, wound closure, and chest tube management Manage postoperative care in the ICU and step-down units, including daily rounds and treatment planning Monitor for postoperative complications and coordinate timely interventions Evaluate new consults and collaborate with CT surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, and nursing staff Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostic studies Perform bedside procedures within scope of practice Manage drains, wounds, documentation, discharge planning, and patient education Participate in call coverage and ensure continuity of care across the surgical service
