Under the direction of the Orthopedics Department, the Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing care related to spinal conditions, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. Works primarily with an experienced orthopedic spine surgeon, and closely with other physicians and clinicians in a team approach to patient care. Participates in a collaborative environment that promotes open communication, trust, accountability and mutual respect. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
NURSE PRACTITIONER or
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE
Board certification Master's or Doctoral degree from accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant/Associate program
Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant/Associate Tennessee license
Proficiency with assisting surgical procedures (First Assist certified if necessary)
Ability to perform spine and orthopedic assessments independently
Competence in interpreting diagnostic tests related to spine and orthopedic conditions
Experience in patient management and care coordination
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

FLSA:
EXEMPT PERFORM DEPARTMENT DUTIES IN A TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Duties include the following, but are not limited to) First assistant directly for surgical procedures, including operating room set up, patient positioning, assisting for microscopic and other surgical techniques, and closure of surgical incisions independently Rounding responsibilities for post-operative patients and new surgical consultations Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with spinal and other musculoskeletal conditions Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with orthopedic spine surgeon Provide pre-operative and post-operative care and education to patients Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, CT and MRI scans Prescribe medications and other therapies as necessary Perform minor in office procedures, including staple/suture removal and injections
